The conversations with her mom in Farsi made me genuinely laugh even though I didn’t understand what was being said. All of the conversations about George of the Jungle 2, processed meat sticks and the debate between “big bag” and “biggest bag” were hilarious and felt so truly real to all couples.
What I didn't like
Overall no notes but I do wish I had gotten a better sense of the backstory between the characters, how they met and how long they had been together at the start of the play. It was good, so I wanted to learn more about them and what they wanted.
My overall impression
I can’t understate how important and relevant this show is today in this troubled political climate. Overall, I love any show that teaches me something about a different culture, as I had never heard about Nowruz before this play. The leads had adorable romantic chemistry; I definitely would have loved to watch more of their interactions. This is MUSTSEE theatre that I would recommend to everyone.
