The minimal context of the show works perfectly within the sparse staging. It allows the audience to focus on the characters’ expressions and inflections, which tell us all we need in order to experience what’s important to them. The show could be performed indoors or outdoors, in any city or town, which I think is the whole point: people from all over want to celebrate what makes each of us unique.

My overall impression
Eamon and Shaparak invite us to spend an evening with them, as they prepare to celebrate Persian New Year in their flat. The give-and-take between them playfully reveals who and where they are as a couple, and as individuals. Their minor quibbles over shopping bags and what movies to stream are more relatable than any melodramatic secrets or resentments they harbor towards one another. Overall, the show is a pleasant and heartfelt ride through the current cross-culture experience.
