What I liked

Andrea’s jokes. Her engagement with the audience. Her self-deprecating style. The way she suggested some ideas rather than hitting the audience over the head with them. Her vulnerability. Her fearlessness on stage. Her singing too! That was a pleasant bonus. Big congratulations on a job so well done!

My overall impression

Andrea Abbate is a revelation. “Adventures of a Slutty Girl with an Eating Disorder” is a special kind of entertainment: it’s hilarious punchline after punchline after punchline that builds a story. And in between the out-loud laughs, are some of the most painful moments of family life and adulthood imaginable. I was riveted from start to finish by Andrea’s cunning writing and deft performance. 10 out of 10. A show that should be on all Fringers’ lists.
