Powerful transfeminist work with a smattering of body horror for flavor. All of the actors excel in their physicality in the space. The use of varying light levels was also a brilliant touch. Play Things is exactly the kind of show you want to see at Fringe: daring, bold, unsettling, and fun! It’s a tour de force writing debut for Carlos Cameron which he also adeptly directs, making clever use of the space and evoking spirited and textured turns from the actors. The mysterious Blossom Chandler literally dominates the room and Matteo Roukes gives a remarkably nuanced performance while helplessly immobile.
