There’s so much I loved but the physical comedy during the dance was extra fun. The scene where she’s sharing deep thoughts only to be overcome with excitement for her jewelry was a great and fun surprise. Shelley fully committed to her absurd role as Napoleon.
What I didn't like
The characters obsession with the drinks seemed a little forced, it was a bit of a distraction from the dialogue, it was the only part of the show that didn’t seem to have a purpose.
My overall impression
Shannon Corbeil has written a cohesive, empowering but also hilarious play. This loosely based reimaginaion of a historical time cleverly demonstrates the plight women face even today to be treated with dignity and respect, but crafts its message with such humor that the audience was laughing through the all too fast hour. The entire cast was amazing and they seamlessly incorporated audience members dialogue into their responses. I may have a new favorite phrase for a particular part of a woman’s anatomy!
