About the Project

When Sister Harmony and Brother Tranquility, two devoted followers of the Happy Havens Church of Higher Enlightenment, awaken to find their fellow Brothers and Sisters have “ascended” by completing the cult’s mass suicide pact, they are left questioning their purpose and what to do next. Determined to carry on their leader’s vision, they attempt to rebuild the church in their own image. However, their plans are quickly derailed by a power struggle between them and the arrival of two new recruits, Fawn and Jasper. The eager newcomers, who had romanticized the original teachings, are disappointed to have missed the revered “Dear Leader” and begin to challenge Sister Harmony and Brother Tranquility’s erratic leadership at every turn.

Complicating matters further, Harmony and Tranquility stumble upon Dear Leader’s secret stash of “sacrament spores” (which turn out to be magic mushrooms) and “starlight powder” (which is definitely cocaine). Fueled by a mix of delusion, paranoia, and chemically-induced enlightenment, they double down on their increasingly absurd attempts to lead the church, pushing Fawn and Jasper closer to rebellion.

As the group devolves into chaos, tensions mount between Harmony, Tranquility, and their disillusioned followers. Desperate to reclaim their authority and faith, the two leaders hatch an audacious plan: to stage their own ascension and join the Dear Leader. But as the moment of their supposed transcendence approaches, Fawn and Jasper hesitate, recognizing the absurdity and danger of the act. In the end, Harmony and Tranquility’s plan spirals out of control, leaving Fawn and Jasper as the sole survivors. Left behind, they begin to reconstruct the church in their own vision, hinting at the unending cycle of cult manipulation and blind faith.
