The theme was clever and the manner in which the sketches were interwoven was appropriate. I also enjoyed the choice to have Di as a breaking-the-4th-wall narrator.
What I didn't like
While I did enjoy the narration component very much, I actually think there could’ve been a little less of it. Some of the scenes stood on their own pretty well and I think that the flow could’ve been even better if there were a few more scenes before a narration.
My overall impression
An entertaining yet important and confrontational look at racism and bigotry in America. Di uses his personal story and history to give an accurate snapshot of the cultural landscape in the contemporary USA. This play pulls no punches, is very timely, and does not hold back on the brutal reality. This is what art should be right now.
