About the Project

Don’t f%*! with a woman.

Thomas, a beleaguered playwright/director, is desperate to find an actress to play Vanda in his adaptation of the classic sadomasochistic tale Venus in Fur. Into his empty audition room walks a vulgar, brazen and equally desperate actress—oddly enough, named Vanda. Though utterly wrong for the part, Vanda exhibits a strange command of the material, piquing Thomas’ interest with her seductive talents and secretive manner. As the audition spirals into an electrifying tug of war, their sparring blurs boundaries between actor and character—play and reality, entering into an increasingly serious game of submission and domination that only one of them can win. This mysterious, erotic comedy from David Ives screams sex, probes self-proclaimed feminism and begs the infamous axiom: careful what you wish for.

“Rachael Meyers gives the best acting performance of Fringe 2025 and that’s largely thanks to the strong support of co-star Bryan McKinley and the superb directing by Amir Korangy. A brilliant battle of the sexes with fast shifting power plays.” ~ Sandro Monetti

"One of the best shows I have seen all year! … Full of dynamic chemistry … Phenomenal performances, a show that looks ready for a professional run.”   ~ Alon Dina, Stage Takes

Venus in Fur is another win for Meyers and McKinley, a couple recently seen in Let Me In, a dark comedy play about grief. … Director Amir Korangy achieves an attractive and professional production, a serious contender for this year’s awards. Korangy’s creativity sets a high bar for the rest of the productions; a reminder that all you need is a great script, solid performances, and excellent direction to stage a great show.”  ~ Joe Morsqueda, Glamgical

“Rachael Meyers was FANTASTIC as Vanda. She effortlessly switches between the various roles of the character. Bryan McKinley also is great as Thomas Novachek, really delivering the submissive needed the character is waiting to release… I highly recommend catching this outstanding production!”  ~ Alex Garcia, @hereviewstheatre
