My overall impression
What a knock-out of a show! It’s always a good choice to bet on a David Ives play, but only when you have the talent to back it up. And, man, did this production prove itself! First off, the play was carried by Rachel Meyers, a total stand out talent. She commanded, not only the stage, but commanded the comedy like I’ve rarely seen. I imagine Meyers to be the exact actor which David Ives himself had dreamt up for the role – an absolute divine match. She nailed each joke that was written and even added more humor by her unique and natural delivery on lines that may not have gotten a laugh were it played by someone else. Both she and her co-star Bryan McKinley had such grasp of character it made for an effortless watch. McKinley was the ideal support, knowing when to step back, but wasting none of his own time in the spotlight. Two immense talents, along with a director who clearly knows his craft, make for one of the best shows I’ve seen at Fringe! Don’t miss this one!
