Laurie. There’s just something about her and the way she connects to the audience that pulls you in. I typically don’t like the type of show where the actor just talks to the audience but this one won me over instantly.
What I didn't like
No notes on the show itself. There were some tech cues that seems to run a little too fast.
My overall impression
I went to this show on a whim, having never heard of it and knowing nothing about it and WOW! One of my favorites of the fringe! Laurie is hilarious. She knows how to tell a story. Not only can she tell a story, but she can tell a story about what could be a very uncomfortable subject matter and make it warm and funny. You end up somehow rooting for her the whole time even though you probably shouldn’t because she’s just so damn charming. She’s honest, willing to laugh at herself, and talks to her audience like they are her best friend.
