What I liked
With an excellent combination of staging, projections, and videos, all dropped in at just the right times, Katie Meyer’s direction gives Rutka all the patience she needs to land the tale in just the right way. Our hearts break with her and we begin to drift into despair, but then with a profound and authentic smile she emerges again and again, never quite speaking until it feels right. This show is a powerful and wonderful journey, that will surely live on past this Fringe Fest. Truly a beautiful experience.

My overall impression
Raw honesty personified and a poignant look at the challenges that just seem to dart at us from endless directions in the absurd and cruel society we all live in. Sprouting out from all the pain however, is undeniable and glorious optimism and a measured acceptance that cuts deep, and gently urges us to carry on. Marrissa Rutka dares to dig through it all, baring and exposing an upbringing of a tender soul out of sorts, that you feel like you’ve known for quite a while by the end. It certainly turned out to be an exploration I didn’t know I needed.
