This was an amazing show. Marissa is fearless, raw, honest, and compelling in her storytelling. I resonated deeply with this show on many levels. I hope this show reaches a much wider audience in the future because it is so important for others to understand what OCD actually is. You should perform it/show it at the OCD convention! The show is a very approachable way to help others understand what it is like living with OCD. Thank you 🙏 ...

A Peacock in the Rubble was a beautifully told story from the beautiful heart of Marissa Rutka. Her story telling made me feel a big supportive hug saying "it's all going to be okay kid". What a special show. What a special person...

It’s about much more than a peacock or even a fire: This is raw, intimate, emotionally charged storytelling at its best. Marissa shares OCD, wildfire trauma, and healing with warmth and courage. You laugh, you cry, and you leave feeling connected—to her, to others, and to your own resilience....

This show is such a nuanced, honest, and empathetic portrayal of what it means to live with a mental illness, and it spoke to me deeply. A beautiful portrait on the struggles of living with OCD. I respect the natural flow of storytelling and keeping us engaged by not appearing too overly rehearsed, giving us a present experience. Perhaps I ought not to write too much about this show so that you can experience it for yourself. I highly recommend this show and can't wait to see what Marissa Rutka brings next to the stage. ...

Vulnerable, funny, heartbreaking… Marissa Rutka uses this show as catharsis to rise from literal ashes. I was torn between wanting to hold her hand throughout or standing aside and letting her dance. The editing of home movies into the narrative worked so well, and she’s a welcome voice in the LA theater scene....

First off, this play got me good. Moved to tears good. "The Peacock in the Rubble" is a vulnerable, uncompromising look into the complex world of OCD and how that can affect a person in light of external traumas. Marissa Rutka delivers a compelling performance that will make you think, laugh, then hit you right in the gut. A brave performance matched with excellent tech, this show elevates the solo show standard, and is one of the best productions I've seen this Fringe....
