The pre-show preparations instantly made the packed house feel like a close-knit family. Dylan George’s magic act was 10/10 and got us psyched for what was to come. And then we plunged into the Atlantic – Mallie’s off-the-charts energy throughout the mad dash performance kept us breathless. Her Leo DiCaprio killed, as did the other 90,000 characters she played in an astounding feat of rotating props, sets, and costume accessories/wigs. But what was even more surprisingly effective and heartwarmingly funny were the real journal entries Mallie wove into the story as interstitials – I did not think this would be a tear-jerker, but that ENDING! Authentic and unapologetic. From the water to the raucous dance party to the honoring of dreams, this show is the voyage of a lifetime and should have been on everyone’s can’t-miss Hollywood Fringe agenda.
What I didn't like
Can’t wait to see what Mallie does next – including more of Oh Fuck, an Iceberg! if and when it comes back!!!
My overall impression
This show is pure joy, just non-stop nostalgic adrenaline. Mallie McCown is a phenomenon.
