About the Project

“One of the best new works of genuine theatre I’ve seen in a long time.” ~ certified press review

“I’m still totally blown away. So so so thoughtfully created from top to bottom.” ~ certified press review

First periods, used pads, queerness, and the struggles of growing up all erupt from this original play about girlhood. From the comfort and torture of her childhood bathroom, Andy feels a rage brewing inside her — a rage built on the rebellion of her changing body, the powerless feeling of facing reality, and the kind of world-ending loneliness you only know when you’re thirteen. Funny, painful, and endearing, this 90-minute play is for anyone who holds a permanent grudge against puberty.

This original show is a slice of life drama, discussing puberty, teenage female friendships, and connections between siblings and their moms. Girl Blood (a period piece) is written by Gillian O’Leary. Directed by Meghan Ripchik. Produced by Calliope Weisman. Presented by Zanni Theatrics.
