Christian Levatino is a creative force of nature, and you will be hard pressed to find another writer who cares as much as he does about the work. As an actor, he’s always effortlessly nuanced and drives every scene with a raw pulsing energy (even in this, one of his more subdued roles ) Committed and soulful performances all around – clearly actors who devour the material they’re given with a depth of honesty and nonjudgment.
What I didn't like
Christian is obsessed with improvement. He’s very open about this in both his opening and closing curtain speeches. As to any thoughts I’d have in regards to the improvement of this work, I look forward to addressing to Christian directly. He’s hungry for it. I urge any audience members to do the same and seek him out. It’s rare that you have a talent of his caliber being completely ego free and ravenous for feedback he can incorporate. Mad respect.
My overall impression
A provocative work in progress that drives home themes of grief, friendship, and the search of Self within the context of humankind’s seemingly-meaningless but potentially cathartic sexuality. It’s a thinker, a slow burn, an emotional deep dive into characters at a crossroads who in the end only have each other. Lots of gorgeous work being done here. I recommend everybody see it, but not just to be entertained, but to become a vital part of that creative process with Christian Levatino, and part of the story of Gloryhole.
