With ingenious script writing, a well constructed heartfelt message about love, loss and life accompanied with an exquisite performance from duo Ron Placone and Sara Kay Godot, Termination Fee is one of those pieces that you remember long after the shows end. Ron's writing is so poignant to today. The overlying theme of couple's struggle because of the all too relevant troubles of our current health care system, then one of the only 'logical' decisions by one of the main characters that death would be the only way they could garner enough money for one of them to survive happily, is a scary yet could be factual story in today's day and age. A powerfully acted production that not only thoroughly rips America's garbage healthcare system a new one, but allows me to feel a certain type of way so that I laugh-so-I-don't-cry but also cry-so-I-wanna-do-something. Does that make sense? No? Well, Termination Fee does make a heck of a lot of sense. The jokes are poignant, relatable, and relevant to the moment. The timelessness struck me, because some lines felt almost like they could have been written just that morning, months ago, or 10 years prior.
