My overall impression

A haunting, beautiful tale about sororal bonds and the beyond. Also… an interesting play to watch on Father’s Day, lol.

Intense material with well-timed comedic relief throughout. As someone who believes the unrelenting horrors are only tolerable with a side of crazed laughter, I appreciate writers and directors who get it too. “She’s aaaaaaa sexually deviant back massager”

As for the cast…

Katie Burke: blew me away on every level. I love productions that are written, produced, aaaand acted (!!) by an individual. Her physicality, especially in certain scenes left me wide-eyed with my jaw on the floor. Just so good. It takes a high level of organizational skills and pure grit to birth an idea into the physical realm and stay actively involved every step of the way. Big, BIG ups to Katie!

Amy Kersten: Amy and Katie, and Katie and Amy’s characters were the perfect pair. Amy embodied, in my personal experience, perfect B.S.E. (big sister energy). Literally no notes.

Helen Day: While I was watching the play and every moment I’ve thought about it since… I have to keep correcting myself: Helen’s characters were not played by different people. They were, in fact, played by one incredible individual. Helen’s main character guided us through this story in such a magical way. If I ever get the gumption to step through a psychic’s doors, I hope someone like her is standing on the other side.

Brent Rose: Made me squirm in my seat. He’s known for his comedic work, but it turns out this dude can also be a very serious, convincing bad guy. Brent brought so much intensity to every character. I’m sure it took a lot of restraint to create space for the emotional highs and lows for both main characters. Excited to see what he does next.

Christian Haines: The direction and the team’s sound design and technical details were amazing and 100% worth the work and attentiveness I’m assuming it took to make happen. Bravo to Christian.

Y’all will be haunted forever if you miss this show!
