The performances by the acting ensemble were so tight and lived in. Katie Burke’s performance is magnetic and engaging. Her writing bold and engaging. Amy Kersten’s performance is transportive. Nimble. She grounds the play in a deep realism and empathy. Their chemistry together is the fuel that powers the whole play. Also Christian Haines’s direction is masterful in the use of space and the audience’s imagination.
What I didn't like
No notes. Definitely see this.
My overall impression
A haunting, moving, puzzle-box of a play, with excellent performances, writing, and striking visuals. The Aquarian will keep you on your toes as you follow the unfolding storylines, gathering clues along the way to its shocking conclusion. Sometimes deeply scary, sometimes refreshingly funny, the acting and writing is so tight, you’ll be on the edge of your seat the whole way.
