About the Project

An American exchange student studying at McGill University in Montreal finds herself in a comedy of errors amid the chaos of the October crisis of 1970. Jacqueline Marshall is a self-described francophile who grew up hearing stories about her French grandmother’s childhood in Brittany. Finding life in Connecticut stifling, Jacqueline goes to Montreal with the goal to master the French language once and for all. A sudden torrid romance with a young lawyer turns into Jacqueline’s own personal French Revolution when she learns her Quebcois lover is a supporter of a free Quebec. Jacqueline must get herself out of a perilous predicament and back home to the U.S. before the situation becomes her own private guillotine.
