I thought the room size and level of informality was wonderful. The intimate space was a perfect match for this style of improv. I hope that in future shows where there are fewer familiar faces, that same feeling of comfort can continue.
It was wonderful that (when an eccentric duplicate outfit was chosen from a previous show) Melanie challenged herself to face the oddity and not back down from the challenge.
Melanie showed her creativity and bravery (heck yea, I could never do that!) and it was amazing watching her brain work in real time!
What I didn't like
I think it would have been great if, during the intro/welcome, the audience had been given more “instruction” on how much participation was ideal (for the whole show or for each section). I don’t go to a lot of improv shows so I don’t know if there is typical protocol on how/when to insert from the seats. I felt we could have helped you out at times but wasn’t sure if it was welcome or an intrusion. Maybe there is a “sign” or a key word the audience and sound person knows. (Bummer your person didn’t get the memo on the Taylor Swift up the volume cues!!) …
My overall impression
Another great show. Melanie was a consumate pro, entertainer, and performer. I just wish we could have seen more! Having watched the social media feed, being able to participate in the “extended version” was awesome! Great job Mel!!!
