The War Cycle is an ongoing project with the singular focus of developing and producing plays about the current American wars for as long as the wars continue. Currently, the Cycle includes three award-winning plays, Wounded, Nation of Two, and Gospel According to First Squad. A fourth is in development. The War Cycle is not political theatre, and does not seek to alienate any of our patrons by reducing the complexities of war into simplified political screeds. Rather, the plays present slice of life dramatizations depicting the circumstances, struggles, and oft-overlooked realities of those most immediately impacted by the wars, in all of its moral, emotional, and political complexity. All War Cycle plays are based on extensive interviews with veterans of the Iraq and/or Afghanistan wars or their family and friends, and two of the three plays have featured actors who were also veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars.
