This show felt intimate, thanks to Janya’s charismatic presence. The set dressing also immersed the audience into a strange, odd, and slightly absurd world. This is to say that Janya had a strong vision of her storytelling, using inanimate objects as other characters or “entities” as she explores her mental space. The sound and lighting design were also phenomenal!
What I didn't like
Nothing at all! I really wish more people had the opportunity to see this show and I hope Janya revisits this piece again in the future.
My overall impression
Overall, I loved the tone and atmosphere! There was great imagery. Although the staging was simple, it still felt dynamic because Janya creatively used every square inch possible. For instance, using some of the set dressing to create a “prison” for her character. I just thought that was really smart! The entire piece was smart and creative!
