What I liked

I loved how self-aware Jayna was, even in her conversations between her conscience, her lover, or herself.

The lighting in the room really flowed with Jayna’s monologues.

What I didn't like

I didn’t quite get the central message or some of the stories, but that’s probably the point considering that the setting of the show takes place in the protagonist’s head. Very avant garde.

I think some acknowledgment of all the props would have been helpful. The blocking, staging, and set design were gorgeous. Maybe some things are better left to the imagination….

My overall impression

This show was the most aesthetic and thought-provoking one-person show I’ve seen in this season of Fringe so far. That being said, this artful piece shared many words that are noteworthy and call attention to the state of being perceived, confronting contradictions, and dealing with inner demons. One of the lines that resonated was that we settle with assumptions. What a mesmerizing performance of the personification of intrusive thoughts.
