What I liked
I liked the creatively streamlined script and gung-ho cast! There were some fun and unexpected moments, and Helena was a particular standout.
What I didn't like
I wish there had been lighting and sound design to help set the atmosphere. And while there was physical comedy, more humor could be mined from the dialogue.
My overall impression
The writer, producer, and director should be lauded for the herculean task of telling the entirety of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in approximately 75 minutes. I saw the preview, so the pace and storytelling were still a bit erratic around the edges but the huge cast all got a moment to shine in this bare-bones production.
