The heightened reality treated as perfectly everyday normal; the genuine affection between characters; the whip smart wit; the endearing duo of actors.
What I didn't like
Volume! We loved the actors and we loved how intimate many of the scenes between them were; but it’s challenging at times (especially in a larger space with a/c running) for vocal performances to not get swallowed up in the ambient noise.
My overall impression
An absolutely lovely, charming, and magical play that surprises you at every turn while simultaneously making you feel like you’ve known and loved these characters for years. At times laugh-out-loud funny and at times heartbreaking, ultimately “The Sphere of Fixed Stars in the Heavens” is the kind of sweeping romantic oddball epic that somehow manages to still feel intimate and deeply personal. Acted beautifully and directed with thoughtful, delicate touches that let the text and emotional heart of the piece take center stage. Loved it!
