Painted Ponies, by Ian McRae, is a one-woman performance honoring the struggles, courage, and love of a mother haunted by past mistakes. As a way of making peace with her past, she records a video-message to her son, Michael, who was abducted 24 years prior. She shares the story of that fateful day and her life since. Her message is part of a deeply felt appeal to her son that addresses life’s bigger questions of chance, fate, guilt, and hope. Pam intends to post the video on YouTube in the belief that somehow, someway, someday, it will find its way to Michael. It’s a message in a bottle that she casts into an ocean of hope, believing that her son is still alive, and that eventually it will wash up on his doorstep. This is a moving portrait of a woman who has tried her best to be human in an inhumane world. Directed by Elina de Santos Featuring Rachel Sorsa
