What I liked

The niece/publicist actor and the friend/george character were easily my favorites and I can’t wait to see these actors in a TV show in the near future and claim to have seen them in a fringe show.

What I didn't like

The emotional arc of the two leads – the father/main lead male actor had a lot of angry outbursts and they didn’t feel earned, then to have the other characters not reacting? It was strange. Also simple things like having items in handbags so they don’t seem empty, making sure there’s a table cloth/a few items on the table to make the set feel more lived in/dressed.

My overall impression

This was a fun time! There were some stand-out acting performances from the supporting actor who played George and the supporting actor who played the publicist/niece – they felt very natural and fun on stage and I wished for more scenes with them because they were just so dynamic whenever they were in a scene. It’s an engaging piece with important themes, I just wanted to see a more nuanced emotional range from the two leads. Some of the emotional range felt wild and didn’t make sense, but the push-pull between a married couple working through their ego as two actors was interesting and engaging. I also wished for more of the daughters story, a lot was said about her life offstage that I wished we’d gotten to see.
