The reading list was astonishingly (though not surprisingly, because Joy is brilliant) comprehensive, tickling the bookish completist in me to appreciate of the rigor of her research and personal experimentation.
What I didn't like
the off-stage prop of condoms under the chairs was probably unnecessary.
My overall impression
I watched Joy’s solo show and must report she was most thorough in her run-through of the bodies she left in her wake, not excluding her own. While I am sorry those demons and addictions that attached themselves through a messily inappropriate combination of guardian neglect and over-dependence, invisibly burrowed into the depths of her sense of self, how she shared them with the immediate audience was categorically hysterical and I’m glad to witness such an entertaining healing process. Waitlist to Harvard? Joy has been up to better things than waiting around.
