What I liked
The actor’s commitment, the talk-back with the audience. Nicely written from the playwright’s heart.
What I didn't like
The play could be a bit more focused, but I understand a longer version is in the works.
My overall impression
THE BORDER effectively deals with an important and timely subject: the opposition by many individuals in Russia to Putin’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine. The performer commits fully to the solo narrative and the writing takes audiences to a place where the dilemma of misinformation and apathy mitigates against a humane understanding of others. A worthy project.
