It seemed at times the audience was split between crying and cheering which can only exemplify how well this production plowed through the gray areas of life and connected to the audience.

My overall impression
A standout piece of contemporary theater, “Mikvah Girls” offers a fresh and insightful exploration of the interplay between religion, sexuality, identity, and desire. The playwright masterfully weaves together the sacred and the profane, creating a narrative that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.
This complex and comedic take on modern-day sexual liberation, and the experiences and expectations of the average Orthodox Jewish woman, is brilliantly executed by actors Maya Knell and Sofia JoAnna, who bring Aviva and Chava to life with authenticity and charm. Their chemistry is palpable, making their interactions both hilarious and poignant.
“Mikvah Girls” is a must-see production that promises to leave audiences laughing, crying, and contemplating the complexities of faith and self-discovery. It’s a rare gem that delivers both hilarity and depth in equal measure, making it a theatrical experience not to be missed.
