What I liked

The performances of the entire cast are pitch perfect, from the leads Maya Knell and Sofia JoAnna, to the supporting performance of Rachel Wender. Such clear characters. The cameos by Jesse Katz and Jonathan Jennings are so fun too! The blocking and direction by Brian Eckert was full of smart choices. And the set design was equally smart and creative by Benny Pitt. The script was so well written. The way the writer used the word “gentle” will stay with me. And I’m a Jersey Girl, and a Jewish Girl, this play left me thinking of great Jersey memories on the drive home. Also the way the play handled intimacy was sophisticated, relatable, and thought provoking, so shout out to their intimacy coordinator Carly DW Bones. So impressed. A must see.

What I didn't like

More shows. They need to have more shows!

My overall impression

Wow. I heard another audience member gasp “wow” at a pivotal moment near the end of the play and that’s exactly what I felt too. Absolutely loved Mikvah Girls. Emmy Weissman’s writing is so smart and funny. The leads Maya Knell and Sofia JoAnna perfectly land every joke and every heartbreaking moment in this stript. A triumph from start to finish!
