Emmy Weissman’s writing is impeccable. I thoroughly enjoyed watching such subject matter handled so delicately through a female lens. The piece is filled with poignant commentary and hilarious levity brought to life by these talented actors. Brian Eckert’s directing, paired with the strong writing, is a recipe for success. His direction with the piece is thoughtfully sculpted and it showed in the actors’ performances. Hats off to both Maya Knell and Sofia Joanna for tackling these beasts of roles in such a short rehearsal time frame. I’d happily go watch this again.
What I didn't like
This script is so strong! I could easily see this piece becoming a full two-act play. I look forward to seeing what this team does next and whether Miss Weissman expands the story further.
My overall impression
A brilliant coming of age story that hit me deep in the feels. Chava and Aviva are both delightful and heartbreaking, and I could watch their magic on stage for hours. This show is a tour de force at Fringe and deserves to be seen by as many people as possible.
