What I liked

I really liked all the various eccentric characters the actress inhabits, and the humor and the depth of the story. The story itself is a recounting of an interesting and unusual life, of a beautiful mother and daughter relationship, and the specific historical time and conflicts it reveals. There’s a wonderful irreverence in the main character of the mother, but also an unusually vital life of her as an independent woman. Also, this is a story with a lot of love.

What I didn't like

I really would’ve liked the song “Rock the Casbah” that comes on right at the end to have been louder. It’s a great punctuation to the show (which I’ve seen before and so know that’s an important moment). This may have been only an issue for the show I saw on June 6? Otherwise, nothing! It was truly wonderful.

My overall impression

I absolutely loved this show! The storytelling & performance was riveting from the beginning. I often laughed out loud at the hilarious parts, and later was on the verge of tears from this deeply human story of love and loss. It really hit my funny bone and the depth and sadness of my heart. Also, this is a story with a lot of love.
