A powerhouse. Sunita’s presence filled the room, her energy brought to this performance was an entirely on a different level. This is my third time seeing Sunita, and it felt like it was an entirely new show owing to the new depths of Sunita having grown as an artist. This was an excellent autobio musical about the life of Ms. Sunita through her upbringing and childhood as a POC of South Asian descent, to her journey in beauty pageant industry, her physical challenges with her voice and emotional scars from her personal life. I loved watching this show. Sunita hits the stage and dazzles us with her glamorous look (she was a pageant queen!) and then pours out the dreams of her youth to us. Over the course of the show we learn about her hopes and challenges and how they shift over the course of the journey of her life. The show is over an hour but somehow feels much shorter as it’s easy to become transfixed by the songs and the story. There was a standing ovation at the end, which I’m sure is pretty standard for this sold out show. ...
