You Can't Be Serious

Content Warning one person show

In this 75 minute one woman show, contemporary dance, cancer, and cookies collide into a captivating collage of grief. Performer Andrea Parson responds to tragic loss through a tapestry of storytelling, comedic commentary, and visceral movement poetry. A final bow in Germany, a mammogram, a death, a cookie, a telephone call with God. She crumbles, plummets to the bottom of the ocean, and unravels a story about finding light within the darkest of waters. A dance between down and up, between the weight of tears and the levity of laughter, this show brings Death to life through humor and heart.

Andrea Parson is an award winning performer proudly hailing from Portland, Oregon. Her 12 year career as a professional contemporary dancer has led her to write and self produce three solo autobiographical shows that blend dance and storytelling. “You Can’t Be Serious” premiered in Portland in November 2023, was presented at the Oregon Fringe Festival 2024, and will make its LA debut at the Hollywood Fringe!
