I loved the high-spirited craziness, Abel’s unstoppable energy, all the costume changes and characters and the effort to capsulize Jewish culture and issues.
What I didn't like
Food! Food is so important to Jewish celebration. There’s some meme that goes something like – We were attacked – We survived – Let’s eat! You ought to discuss all the unhealthy (and delicious) foods that pepper Jewish celebration!
My overall impression
I was initially suspicious that Abel would “solve antisemitism in 45 minutes,” considering the current world situations of the October 7 kibbutz massacre, the Palestinian rights protests, the war in Ukraine with it’s Jewish President Zelensky. I just allowed myself to immerse in Abel’s story telling. All I can say is that he nails much of why Jewish culture is so thick, beloved and mistrusted.
