What I liked

I related deeply to aspects of almost every character. There wasn’t only one figure I was drawn to, the cast worked so well as an ensemble and it was obvious they have a mature working relationship with one another.

What I didn't like

A few plot lines developed a little too quickly and I would have appreciated some extra character beats for more payoff later on. For example Jen disappears for a bit in the second part and then has a dramatic outburst in the third (incredibly acted by Sierra Parsons!!) But one more beat of her frustration in act 2 would have made that even more satisfying.

My overall impression

Such a smart adaptation of Chekhov’s Three Sisters. It’s hard to pull off COVID stories, and I was incredibly moved by this one. The large cast and family dynamics in the home leaves lots for audiences to latch onto. I would love to see it again to gain even more from the story as the production, though bare for the festival, was so nuanced. So impressed by this new company and can’t wait to see what they do next!
