This ensemble worked collaboratively to bring the vision of the story and its adaption to life in a manner that resonates with multiple generations of family chosen and family by birth.
What I didn't like
The only feedback I can think of is more clarity earlier in the story that Fred and Molly are married.
My overall impression
Conversations in Exile explores the complexity of family relationships in a tangible and modern adaptation of Chekov’s Three Sisters. Covid and the reckoning of social justice issues that arose during 2020 in every home in America are brought to light in this thoughtfully crafted play. The actors are incredibly sincere and embody the struggles we all faced during this difficult time in our collective history. The relationships in families are often tenuous, fraught with love and desire, justice and hope that we can do better, and be better. What surfaced in this play is that we are all fallible. We can love one another so deeply that we ignore or refuse to confront one another’s flaws and strengths, and are unwilling or unable to confront our deepest needs, desires, and longing to live the life of our dreams and meet our greatest potential.
