What I liked

  • Cactus Dance — AMAZING
  • Brilliant use of props in the Billy the Kid section — audience was howling
  • Great costumes and magician-fast costume-changes.
  • Delightful, never-too-much inclusion of the audience—including, on the night I went, an adorable interaction involving an audience member volunteer, a bow and arrow, and Sunset Cowgirl’s quest for self-destruction.
  • Great little theater with ice cream shop next door to hang out at after.
  • O’Meara herself — original voice and fierce, funny, vulnerable, and achingly human performance (sometimes all at the same time).

What I didn't like

The first run for this original show — but the rawness is part of what’s great about it.

My overall impression

A modern-day female Sam Shepard (think early-years — epic, unhinged imagination, unabashed eccentricity, and unfiltered originality), O’Meara gleefully pillages the Western mythos to craft a bawdy, hilarious, and unexpectedly personal story that I’m not going to give away here because the revelations are part of the glory of this off-the-wall, wonder-filled journey. Love that this bold, original voice exists and has launched itself into the world. Can’t wait to see what O’Meara does next!

As I type, there are two performances left:

  • Thursday, June 27, 10 PM (a post-debate palate cleanser)
  • Saturday, June 29, 2024, 1:30 PM

I highly recommend this show to everyone! You’ll be happy you went.
