A modern-day female Sam Shepard (think early-years — epic, unhinged imagination, unabashed eccentricity, and unfiltered originality), O'Meara gleefully pillages the Western mythos to craft a bawdy, hilarious, and unexpectedly personal story that I'm not going to give away here because the revelations are part of the glory of this off-the-wall, wonder-filled journey. Love that this bold, original voice exists and has launched itself into the world. Can’t wait to see what O'Meara does next!
As I type, there are two performances left:
* Thursday, June 27, 10 PM (a post-debate palate cleanser)
* Saturday, June 29, 2024, 1:30 PM
I highly recommend this show to everyone! You'll be happy you went....

A true-to-form vaudeville with clever setups, biting lyrics, bawdy slapstick, and audacious humor, performed exuberantly by Caroline O’Meara, channeling the ghost of her grandmother....

Caroline's one woman show is a mind blowing, heart -wrenching, wonderful, Sam Shepard-esque wild ride with a twist; that will fill your belly with laughs and eyes with tears!
An incredibly important performance piece about inter-generational trauma and healing. It is bold, sexy, imaginative, rich, layered and brave. O'meara is a force to watch - an incredible writer and actress, and I can't wait to see the extended version of this show on the West End or Broadway!...

Sunset Cowgirl is a fascinating journey that had me cackling with laughter as well as squeezing my heart to the point of tears. Caroline’s use of her body, props and costumes is a delight to witness and provides an exciting backdrop for her thoughtful, deeply personal and interesting narrative. The play’s upbeat pace keeps you engaged as Caroline tackles topics as real as mental illness, sex and family origin all the while dancing with a cactus, high kicking and breaking into song. Sunset Cowgirl gets two thumbs up and a big YEEHAW from me! Not to be missed. 👍🏼👍🏼...

Wildly energetic and heartwarmingly personal, at-times shocking, at times fall-out-of-my-chair funny romp with some unexpected twists. A triumph of a Fringe piece....

Daring in scope, and successful in execution. Written expertly as both a frame story and streams-of-consciousness, Sunset and her conscious co-pilots offer her audience an opportunity to ride along the immortal boulevard that bears her name as she narrates (with unassuming wit and vulnerability) a wild ride to the Pacific Ocean along margins of a life that naive observers might purport to know all there is to know about (by judgment of its cover, as an example).
From "the rose" that Calling in Love (artist's performance at festival last year) closed with, to the opening moment of Sunset Cowgirl, I wondered if it was possible for the expectation-defying love-ballad of CiL's Helga and Harold to be topped in a setting so different and possib...

Funny, sweet, full of heart and just the right sprinkling of off-the-wall. The show does a brilliant job of balancing its hilarious tone with a beautiful, heartfelt centre and is as much fun as I've had at a show all year!...
