This show keeps you on your toes and breaks a bunch of theatrical rules in delightful ways. Charlotte’s singing is gorgeous and melodically agile, displaying some of the most masterful vocals I had the pleasure of listening to this festival. I have some familiarity with ancient alien theory and I loved the way she addressed the “taboo” nature of the subject matter, gracefully blending humor with professional knowledge.
What I didn't like
The simple staging is successful, but I would love to see this have a life beyond Fringe with projections or a more complex set. With more set-up time, the visual presentation could transform the storytelling’s impact.
My overall impression
Each year at the Fringe, I am on the lookout for shows that innovate and challenge our expectations of what theater can be — and this unique solo show does not disappoint. Not quite a musical, not quite a play, this stream-of-consciousness presentation of personal anecdotes, ancient history, mythological metaphors, and haunting acapella melodies is charming, confounding, and compelling all at once.
