The entire concept was truly clever and unique. It’s really impossible to compare this piece to anything else as it would change pending on which “Woman” would assume the role of the title character in the piece! With that kind of spontaneity, it’s all about letting yourself go on an this unknown ride! It’s a clever, unique, theatrical treat!
What I didn't like
Given all the buzz, I wanted to be blown away and if I’m being honest, I wasn’t. As unique and clever as the idea was, I felt that there were many moments that were just slow. The Viewpoint Grid work that the Narrator was doing while the Woman did certain tasks seemed out-of-place, unnecessary and confusing. Why was he up from his desk? Why move at all? How was that furthering “her” journey or narrative?
Not every prop from the suitcase was used, were they supposed to all be used or not?
Also, while I flipping LOVED the dance break that happened, where did come from?? It just seemed out of the blue and left me wondering how it was supposed to fit.
My overall impression
Coming into a show that has gotten quite the “buzz,” my expectations were high. On the inventiveness of the concept, it did not disappoint! The laughs were bountiful and we just didn’t know what was going to happen next! The Narrator was certainly charming, patient, and willing to engage the Woman in the show.
