What I liked
Performer’s versatility, physicality, audience engagement. Set up a premise and followed through in spades. Thematic through line was extremely pertinent.
What I didn't like
Thought this might be going against the nature of the piece, some more intentional blocking could emphasize key points. And though I adored the monologue from bed, the obvious reading from the phone made the delivery on some of the lines come off as read rather than felt/thought. Not to diminish the power of it. I loved it. And it would be all the more powerful if it didn’t feel like you were reading it.
My overall impression
This was such a beautiful, fully realized depiction of evolution, from a comedic brain for the ages. A poignant arc tied with a bow. Absolutely loved the physicality, audience engagement, and thematic through line. 10 out of 10.
