Vanlyfe is a powerful reminder that homelessness isn’t a personality trait. These characters manage to be smart, funny, and supportive while facing all sorts of challenges. The story feels depressingly real, but it’s told in a lively, interactive way that left me feeling a (tiny) bit hopeful.
What I didn't like
I was really impressed with the whole production. I loved that it was set outdoors in Hollywood, with helicopters overhead and cars with loud stereos driving by. The parking lot setting added a layer of authenticity to the story.
My overall impression
I’ve never been unhoused, but I found these characters very relatable, which made the story even more heartwrenching.
