What I liked

This is such an important show that touches on such serious and current topics- and encourages us to go out and do something to help. (The kit of essentials was so smart and awesome). I was super “in my head” before the show, and after it I felt like the fog had lifted. This show changed me the way art is supposed to change people. This show made me feel the way art is supposed to make me feel. This is why I want to make art. This is why I watch art.
I loved the way the cast interacted with the audience throughout, and there was a moment at the end where the cast had the audience participate that drove me to tears, the way we all came together. It reminded me that while some humans, many policies, so many things in the world are evil, senseless and unfair, there is also good in the world, and that we can be the good, we can be that change.
Everyone go see this show.

What I didn't like

I really hope VanLyfe goes on to more things- I hope the production can reach more people in whatever way it can because everyone involved is incredible and the story and message is profound and important.

My overall impression

I was so unbelievably moved by this play. Every cast member did an incredible job- I loved all the characters and they all were so beautifully individual and lovable in their own ways. I especially felt for Sunny. The line about feeling others’ emotions “as if they are happening to me” hit so deep and made me empathize with Sunny even more. I love how deeply we got to know each character and with such specificity- like with Willow and her family life (I won’t say details because I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t seen it).
