Vanlyfe brilliantly engages its audience into the micro-world of the unhoused. Audience members are asked for assistance and invited to share in the bounty of food surplus (like pancakes, chips, flowers, etc.). Trans and gender non-binary identities, drug use and mental illness are so tenderly engaged that one almost believes that the actors are portraying themselves....

Verisimilitude in every aspect. Performed outside, while flipping off cars blasting beats, an iconic mini/max van door slides open, and you are immersed....

A snapshot of homelessness told beautifully and with utter humanity. The Vanlyfe team took an ambitious project and knocked it out of the park. Not simply a performance - an immersive experience - with an important and effective message. ...

I was so unbelievably moved by this play. Every cast member did an incredible job- I loved all the characters and they all were so beautifully individual and lovable in their own ways. I especially felt for Sunny. The line about feeling others' emotions "as if they are happening to me" hit so deep and made me empathize with Sunny even more. I love how deeply we got to know each character and with such specificity- like with Willow and her family life (I won't say details because I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it). ...

Probably the most important, relevant, and poignant piece you will see at fringe this year. A well directed play with a very important message. A play that immerses you in the experience and really makes you think. Excellent, excellent work and activism. ...

Vanlyfe is a story where we witness harsh realities that unhoused people face, but also the hope that comes with the support of friendships and chosen family. In a world so cruel to people who are unhoused, this story gives a much needed voice for the community. It is a reminder we must all extend kindness every day....

Vanlyfe is a show that every single person should see. It humanizes the homeless experience and left me with the thought, "what can I do to help?"
The actors were all excellent and very believable. The show was well written and flowed seamlessly. There really was never a dull moment. I hope that I get to see it again before it closes....

The concept, design, performance, and writing were all great. This is an important story and it was told with such care and truthfulness . The discomfort of sitting outside in the middle of a hot day as an audience member was such an effective way to force us to reflect on what our unhoused neighbors endure everyday. More outdoor theater please !! ...

I was absolutely moved by the show! It was a powerful story that rang with authenticity with it's heart in the right place. The characters were so loveable and truly humanized those that, I admit, I do see when I walk around my neighborhood. I have always wondered their stories, but felt too scared to say something or not sure how to help. Finn and Sunny and Willow's stories made me think deeply about my response and was moved by the co-writers' speech sharing their experience. It was an emotional rollercoasters with highs and lows, and really interactive. ...
