Despite this being a one woman show, the depth of difference between each of the characters was unbelievable. It was very easy to tell who everyone was with distinct shifts in body language, posture, and vocal tone. I sometimes struggle with one person shows feeling claustrophobic, but Maria created a vast, varied world with her characters and with the minimal but effective special effects.
LIGHTSPOILERS
I also deeply appreciate the subject matter. The story goes in seriously unexpected directions, particularly in the implications of mental health (I found myself pondering “Antisocial Personality Disorder” when it came to our lead), as well as the uncertainty about the circumstances of her relationship with her mother. Calling it an “exploration of guilt” doesn’t quite go deeply enough into what this show is truly about.
What I didn't like
Not much to say here, I really felt the quality was top notch.
My overall impression
I truly have not stopped thinking about this show since seeing it. The distinctness of the character portrayals were masterful, the story gripping, and the audience interaction was extremely unique. I loved it.
