What I liked

Here are all the things that delighted me:
-the use of a graphic of a voodoo doll to show where Stacie’s ailments occurred on her body
-the short, sharp, hilarious songs throughout
-Stacie acknowledged and welcomed late-comers
-I felt like I was a character in the show, she included the audience and responded to them
-the casual yet heightened feel —Stacie called “line” several times and her director was on book for her and it felt refreshing and real and exciting to be a part of a show being built from the ground up.
—wonderful, supportive direction by Katie-Rose

What I didn't like

Stacie said her team was stuck in traffic and she only had half of her normal props and I had absolutely no idea that she was missing anything. This show doesn’t need a ton of props but I’d love to come see it again with all the bells and whistles in place.

My overall impression

This show spoke to me right where I am in my life. Stacie’s full throated acceptance of the absurdity of her circumstances (caregiving, consistent and annoying medical issues, aging in Hollywood) was refreshing and inviting to the audience. We felt free to laugh out loud at heartbreaking circumstances because we knew we were in Stacie’s capable hands. Her ease and skill as a performer immediately puts the audience at ease. Stacie describes herself as “intense” but I would say “engaged and alive” to the situations around her. She brings such joy and spontaneity to the work.
