This looked like a lot of fun to be in! The actors really gave it their all. There were some spectacular moments of ensembleship, & Joanna Syiek’s direction brings a special life to the story.
What I didn't like
This adaption from a true story isn’t meant to be historically accurate, but it does place some questionably #GirlBoss motivations on the real-life character of Mary Toft. The musical setting also does slight disservice to the lyrics, and doesn’t leave the audience with any earworms.
My overall impression
A charming 90 minute romp packed with maternal misadventures, queer masculine energy, easily distracted villagers, and comical ensemble numbers. Come for the unique premise, stay for the spirited cast of characters!
