We know it’s going to be light & funny from the start, he’s so likable. There is a relatability as Parker pieces his life together looking back with humor as a way to set himself up to look forward with greater understanding. It’s vulnerable without being precious or heavy, and insightful of a time before strong gay role models and rainbows were mainstream. Especially loving kids are resilient, and nothing about what he went through changes his true nature of leading from his heart. Experiences typically labeled “traumatic” by others are not always held heavily by the person who lives through them….that’s inspiring.
What I didn't like
The Henry Murray Stage was pretty hot the night I attended despite the A/C. Bring an ice cold drink and wear light clothing.
My overall impression
Parker embodies a humor-heals style with stories of his undeniable big heart that place this rare survivor of freak accidents, abuse, assaults, and aortic events in the best of solo shows at the fringe.
